Front brake caliper fit? (long)

Ordered two front calipers from Napa for my 76 530i. The drivers side (which was an ATE rebuild went on with no problem. The pass side caliper, which looks like the original, rubs the rotor disc on the outer side and the top of the rotor rubs the caliper as well.I've pulled off the hub and rotor and they seem to be aligned properly. The two halves of the caliper don't quite meet together if you look directly thru the opening where the pads go. There is a ridge where the two halves meet which would explain the rubbing at the top of the rotor but what about the where the caliper contacts the rotoron the side? I'm going to return the caliper and see if they can come up with a better unit. I'm wondering if halves from two different calipers were spliced together? I'm also wondering if I've done something wrong on the assembly???? Any advice most welcome.

You could check photos on web parts sites but unlikely you're doing anything wrong. Calipers are mirror images of each other.

If not, ask the NAPA ombudsman, happy customer person.

Would you happen to know if there is any difference in the caliper between the prior 09/76 and the after 09/76 caliper housings?

Perhaps check part numbers on realoem.com. Not the greatest for visual comparison as the line art gets used as generic, not detail specific.

See FAQ for parts interchange.

Otherwise, parts photos from sellers or inquiries to their city desk ?

We did compare the oldies to the newies ?

Don't pre 77 have solid rotors? I suspect the calipers don't have the spacers in the middle of the halves?
