Urethane Front Subframe Compliance Bushing Update...

Just a quick update from our blog at Nameless Performance, Inc. We got the master back to manufacture ~75 and ~85 Shore A front subframe radius arm compliance bushings for the e12 (as well as the e3, e9, e23 and e24).

Here's the blog w/ pics of the billet master and final SolidWorks CAD design: NP Blog: Suspension Bushing Development Begins.

We have some options on pressing the sleeve into the bushing or doing an overmoulded design featuring an external knurled surface or some other design to help improve the performance of the bushing. We also made some slight improvements to the design by adding a more aggressive taper to the bushing for easier installation.

Our plans are to rent or sell installation tools for a quick removal of the factory parts and installation of the urethane bushings...but we're still working on that design to hopefully have a single design that can be used with a number of the bushings on the e12.

If there are any other designs that any of you would be interested in, let us know ( jason.g@namelessperformance.com ) and we'll get on it. We have found two owners of e12's here in the Portland, Oregon area which will allow us to get some more hands-on development going in the next month.

And if anyone can tell me how to embed my email using a mailto: on this board, I would greatly appreciate it!

You just did. I tested it.
this is great news. Please keep us informed of progress!

We did some testing of the factory bushings. They are 65 Shore A in durometer, and we are currently making a set of 10 prototype sets of bushings - 5 sets in 90 Shore A, 5 in 80 Shore A.

Ping me if anyone wants in on the first set. I should have pricing later this week and the parts should be available in the next two weeks.

Good Lord, this is embarrassing. Since we started this project and got the first prototypes back we have been buried with a ton of other projects - from a variety of exhausts to turbo exhaust manifolds to performance fabricated radiator assemblies. So in trade for my shame for not having an e12 compliance bushing to market by now, I at least bring some neat designs that are e12 compatible to the table for quick release.

So, on to the bushings. We got the first set at 95 Shore A, hard as a whores heart as my machine technology instructor used to say. The shrink calculation factors we were given were a wee bit off for this high durometer mix and so the part ended up larger than desirable. We reworked the first set and will be quickly test fitting them in the next week. Additionally we are getting our mold back for rework (luckily we designed on the material safe side and this is an easy fix). The next two prototypes we get back will be 95 ShoreA and 75 or 80 ShoreA. Luckily we found some good drawn over mandrel (no seam) tubing that is a perfect match for the factory sleeves.

Again, many apologies for being yet another company who hooted and hollered about something and then didn't deliver as expected. Crappy on our part, but we're seriously dedicated to the e12's and we have one here locally who I am going to be working with very soon for development of a number of new products.

To follow our developments in real time, we post to our Facebook page religiously: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nameless- ... 3699964221

I'm not shutting my FirstFives window in my browser until I have the production run in the hands of our e12 customers.

Thanks again for your patience!

Jason,
Thanks for the update. I follow your projects on FB and look forward to buying a set when available!

Don't worry about not meeting self inposed production deadlines, it's good to see someone making new parts for these cars!
