75' 530i. Recently my car had developed harder and harder starting. At times i had to rev it a little just to keep it running. At the beginning once i began driving this car it would start up perfectly without any problems. So apparently the problem is just getting worse, to now where the car wont even start at all.

ALL emissions have been taken out since it is smog exempted in cali.

Do i have spark?
Yes i do, very VERY strong spark actually with the help of a new coil and all the spark plugs fire proving that the distributor is working

Do i have fuel?
Yes i do, I taken the injectors to get it rebuilt as well and they tested it which is in perfect working order. There is also fuel going into the cylinders as well (wet plugs)

Try new spark plugs?
Did that but to no avail

Fuel pressure?
Not sure exactly how to do this.. any suggestions?

Bad timing?
Quite the possibility now since everything seems to be checking out. I have fuel, i have spark, maybe its just sparking at the wrong time?

What do u guys think?

I think I would start with the bad spark timing theory. At least eliminate that before moving on to anything else.

If that doesn't work, just sell that 75 to me for a really, really low price. especially if it's a manual and in really nice cosmetic shape.

Just checked timing and everything seems to be in order. BLAH lol. o well.. next thing, move onto the fuel pump and fuel pump regulator.

Thanks for the offer ken, but i already got a M5 engine waiting to be put in the car. Not to mention registration and insurance is so cheap i cant let it go sorry. also has alot of sentimental value to it believe it or not

Engine swaps are fun! I've done a few on BMW's over the years. Let me know if you need a hand. Be sure to make sure the oil pan is compatible with the front sway bar. I am doing an 89 3.5 out of a 735i to my 77 530.

hey just curious, what is the stock pressure for the fuel pump? What about the fuel pressure regulator?

are there any aftermarket fuel regulators that are available?

Oh, just to let you guys know i found out what is wrong with the car. Since i had spark, and timing for cams and distributor is right, i moved back to fuel. I removed the fuel pump and had it checked at a local fuel pump rebuild shop. Turns out i have more then enough pressure. Over 6 bars of pressure so i know thats working even better then expected. After that i concluded it is probably and ordered a fuel regulator thinking it is busted. Turns out it was and the car is running even better then before. Definitely not as a running rich as before. So im happy, thanks guys for your help!!!
