I have a 81 528i with a auto trans. I am process of switching to getrag 5 speed 265/6. I have the BMW manual dated 4/80 that only have info on the 4 speed manual. Does anyone have info on the 265/6 and the shift linkage. When I look on realoem.com on gearshift parts I don't see how shift arm is attached at back end and how the stop buffer is attached. Any help would be appreciated.

Part number 16, bow, I believe is welded to the body. 14, bow, bolts to it and cradles the rubber mount so it's mostly just holding the shifter support, #1 in compression. I don't believe #16 is welded to the body on A/T cars, I think you just have to fab up a mount. But once you understand 14 and 16 go under the larger part and support it from underneath it's not too bad.

What is the best aftermarket stereo to put in a 02 BMW 3 series? Was wondering about possible aftermarket stereos to install in an 02 BMW 325 that just doesn't look totally out of place with the rest of the car something that flows with the layout of the dash and all. Thanks.

I will say that you're pretty much out of luck on that since the stock stereo in an E46 is not DIN sized, so you'd have to do some wacky stuff and it will never look right since it's all wavy and such. The best aftermarket stereo is the stock one you buy from someone other than BMW.
