weatherproofing and slooow wipers

It feels great to be back. I got my 5 back in 04 but never made any progress with it as far as where I wanted the project to go...Ended up selling the car to my dad for money to backpack through europe. No regrets there but I really missed the car. Long story short: traveled, moved around a lot, got married, wife lost job, had to get rid of wifes car payment, and bought the 5 back from my dad. I guess good things do come from this recession!

Anyway! The car runs great but had been sitting outside at my dad's so I'm just working out the cobwebs.
So I'm looking to replace some of the weatherproofing mostly the strips of the molding(?) right against the door windows as it's pretty brittle and not really protecting as well as it should. but I can't find anywhere to buy it.
Any ideas?

Also my windsheild wipers are going wayy too slow and there is no real difference in the different speeds. Is the motor going out?
Any help would be great. it's awesome to have this kind of support group for these awesome cars!

This guy is a good source for parts (window strips) if you are not in a rush....

I have heard of people cleaning/overhauling the wiper motor to bring it back to speed but you may need to replace it.....

Still Available from BMW

At least is looks like it's still available. I bought some last year. The outer front door weather strip part # is 51 21 1 864 291. The rear is 51 22 1 864 289 (Left) and 51 22 1 864 290 (right). Wish you success!

I've read somewhere, probably on MyE28.com, that the wiper motor/linkage lubricant dries out over time and slows down operation, so possibly cleaning and re-lubing may help.
