making one e-12 from two......

This summer I plan on combining my two cars into one and have a few questions..... I would like to upgrade the exhaust from stock to aftermarket. which brand of header would be best for street application? Will this change effect my FI? When I have my engine out I would like to change the oil pan(mine has been repaired) and possibly the oil pump. Is there any thing else I should look at when I get into the crankcase? My engine runs strong and has had no issues with oil pressure or noise, I just want to make sure I check it all out while it is out of the car.

Uh oh. Beware of mission creep. The pan I can understand if it's been repaired, but if you don't have oil pressure problems, then the next thing is rod bearings, then mains, then if you're that far, you might as well pull the head and go thru it, then is it new rings or new pistons...
The pan is doable, but not easy.

I'd leave well alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Mind you, some new bearings, rings & high comp pistons would be nice...
Cheers

The engine has already been rebuilt and there are no issues with compression or knocks. The oil pan looks like some previous owner put a jack in the center and it has been welded. I am going to remove the A/C condenser and I already have a new pan. I was just curious about changing the oil pump and pick up screen while I have access to them. I am anxious to get started on this, but have had to post-pone due to the winter like weather still affecting us in the pacific north west. Still looking for ideas on the header issue, and any other ideas or hints. Thanks

Awesome to see another WA e12 around! I used to live in Burlington but didn't have the 528 back then. What are your plans for the car?

My 77 has a lot of body thumps. A rust hole the size of a golf ball completely through the passenger front door, and has had a rough time of it. I found her at an abandoned auto auction and have spent the last years bringing her back to the point she is now. I recently found a 78 down in Tacoma and purchased it. The 78 runs but has a blown head and other engine issues. I want to swap the engines and all the other suspension parts that I have put on Helga. While I have my good engine out I want to do as much as I can. Like replacing the clutch and having the flywheel resurfaced or replaced. I would love to convert to five speed but I dont think I have the money right now. I am still investigating that aspect. As for pictures I have bunches but I cant seem to get them to down load on the site. I am working on a picture site and will let you know when it's available

Any thoughts on meeting up at a central loction (for example Dick's on 45th in Seattle) to talk E12's (5 series and 6 series)? I know people are busy and it is tough to find time. Let me know what you all think. Thanks, John

I am interested in meeting other E-12 owners and doing an information exchange. I know of several others in the greater Seattle Tacoma area. If there are others interested I would be.

Thanks sherman for posting the pics of my projects. I was playing with the photo bucket thingy for a couple of hours this morning and finally had enough of it and went outside to play for awhile.

You are welcome.
I love playing outside. So much so, weather permitting, new strut inserts go in this weekend.

Yeah I would be interested in a meet. How many e12's are in the seattle tacoma area anyway?

According to the member list, six are located in WA state. From Bellingham to Tacoma. I would like to get a confirmation from those of us who want to meet and grab a coffee or something. I am in.
