Is the final tightening done on the top Nyloc nut after the strut assembly is installed in the car ?

BavAuto has a handy dandy photo deal for hand tightening the assembly (That recessed nut) with the photos shot looking down at the shock towers.

There's a note saying to tighten rubber bits (stabilizer bar bushings) when the car is on the ground, suspension loaded. Because the struts use rubber pads on the ends of the springs, is it the same deal ?

Install assembly, drop the car, the assembly compresses,...then fully tighten the top nut ?

Yes. But not because of rubber spring pads. But yes.
