Are swaybars of all E12's and E24 interchangeable?

Mine is a Euro 528 build january 1976 and thus a first series E12. I want to fit some aftermarket swaybars like Ireland engineering, St or Whiteline.

Will these fit alle years E12? Same with lowering springs, do they fit the first generation E12's?

Springs have been discussed here:

Sway bars will work as well.

I've seen that post but the topic starter has a second generation E12 ('78).

Bilstein also lists 2 different shocks for the first genenration E12.

I think it's been mentioned already, later model E24's are based on the E28 chassis so won't interchange, springs, struts, swaybars.

I have an early 528 also, and can confirm the springs / swaybars are the same with later E12's. I pulled down my spare early model struts to see if the later model inserts would fit - no good, the I.D of the strut tubes on the earlier models is bigger than the late model E12's.

If you source a set of later model struts then you have more options for inserts as other models such as E28, E30 share the same I.D. housing.
I bought shorter koni's from an E30 to go into my strut housings, however i've had to get a couple of washers machined to allow the stock top hats to fit the smaller rod diameter of the E30.
