The rear bump stops on all my cars are pretty well stuffed, so I went and bought some more

Bought some universal ones - which means you cut them to length.
Any one have a spec for how long the rear bumps stops ought to be.

He is a pic of the old and new one.

say why am at it, all of you might want to go and check the condition of yours - they could be looking like this! - not good for you shocks.

They're about 3-4" (75-100MM) in good shape. Looking at your pic and trying to guess size, I'd say about 3, maybe 4 segments. Of course that's assuming they are the same diameter and density, LOL.

well I cut the bump stop to about 70mm and installed them on the rear shock from my 81 528i and then installed them into my 77 528i.

Cars (n 77') rides much better and more positive, although it does slide around a bit more now, when powering out of a corner.
