brake caliper differences 76-77

I'm looking at rebuilt calipers for my 77, and the only rebuilt ones available that come up for a 77 oddly note "To 09/1976" (why listed for 77!?!)

Anyways, the same confusion seems to be found on almost all the "parts sites"

Why are they all listing a 76' caliper for a 77 and then noting then its only for e12s up to september 1976?

Being that I can't seem to find rebuilt calipers for my car besides these,
what is the difference between the 76 and 77 calipers?

are they interchangeable? if so, is one better than the other?

ah I see... I think..

the rotors sep 76 onwards are vented and are 22mm whereas prior they are ~12mm...

guessing the 76 calipers will not work!

Check Realoem, but I think all the ventilated rotor calipers are the same, respective of the correct side. So you shouldn't be limited to 77 only.

Thx for that.

Unfortunately it seems nobody has these rebuilt right now for the ventilated rotors...

'75-'76 had solid front rotors and studs, so they're quite different. 9/76 would be the start of the '77 model year. When you have a car that is on the cusp like yours, I'd just look at '78 530i stuff, but really, they're all the same.
