235-60-16 on 8 inch wide 23 offset wheel. Will they fit the E12?
These are the mesh style 5 wheel that came on the E38 7-series.

Hi Pierre
Finally meeting all you guys was great! Thanx Brian.
I thought I would let you know my latest experiance with 16's.
I really enjoy looking at Brick with the 'new' wheels. But, the driveability has changed significantly. I know it was a big jump from the factory 14's, but now the car turns in too sharply & when I try to bring it back, it again over-reacts. I do know how to cut the corner at the apex, & heel & toe, & power out of the corner & stuff. All this should be done gently. The tire size is 205/55R16 on 71/2's. I really like the way Silver handles with the 205/55R15 on 71/2's. Just some info for you. Greg

It was nice to finally meet you too in person.
I like the sharp turn in, the quick responses and the more precise steering. I have set of ST springs and Bilstein sports going on the car along with the huge sway bars that are already on.
I already have a set of 16X7 BBS wheels which fit beautifully. But I am not sure if the 16X8 from the E38 will fit. I would be able to install wider tires, maybe 235-45-16. I suspect the 235-60-16 are probably too tall. But will the wheel fit? I have yet to find out.

I have been running 8" X 16" ET24 BBS' with no problems.
Tire size is 225 - 50

Tires for an E38 will not fit an E12. You'll want a 225/50/16 on those wheels. On an E28, the 23mm offset wheel can pose a problem in front as far as clearance with the strut housing. I don't know if this is an issue with the different front suspension on the E12. The way to counter this is to run a narrower 225/50. Look at the manufacturer's data for the tires you're considering to see the actual specs and choose something narrower.
It's a good-handling setup on the E28, so it should be equally good on the E12. Hope that helps!

The wheels fit with no problem. No need for spacers, rubbing issues etc.
Tires may be too big.
Yes?

The tires are way too big. I don't see how a 235/60 isn't going to rub on the rear arches.
A 225/50/16 generally has a 25" diameter. A 235/60 has a 27.1" That's a lot taller and will raise your car an inch. I don't see that fitting. It might fit lowering the car off the jack, but once you move the car and the axles go to their normal position, you won't be moving.

235-60-16s will make your e12 look like a lunar rover...way too big my man.
