There are two Phillips head screws that would appear to be all that holds the waffle lid on, but when I remove them, it is still on there securely. Maybe it has been sealed with silicon? Anyways, should it come off with the two screws removed, or are there some hidden screws?
Thanks! Mike

The way into an AFM is the plastic side, which is siliconed in place. Why are you trying to get into the metal side?

In ten years I have foggy memories of reading about recognizing symptoms of an AFM going bad, and taking the plastic bottom off to reset the needle (?), moving it from a worn to new surface. I can't find those posts via Google Search or on the FAQ list.
If I can, or if someone will be so kind as to guide me, or repeat the procedures, thanks in advance. Especially knowing when it ain't broke, to leave it alone.
Luis's photos are great, but without (photoshop) arrows I'm too dense to see the repositioning marks, where the flapper was rubbing. Perhaps hauling off and taking one apart would enlighten, unless it wasn't broke to need any enlightening.
With the bonnet (hood) closed there ain't no way I'd need my waffles bead blasted bad enough to monkey with all them little screws.
