Effectiveness of fan shroud
I had my radiator re-cored, but they didn't get the dimensions 100% correct when they reassembled it. Thus, I'm not able to fit the fan shroud without some modification. Is it really that vital, or will I be fine without it?

Jamus, I read that the shrouding helps to direct/funnel air through the radiator for better cooling.
Keep searching for opinions.
Take it back with the shrouding & have them do it right?
Don't settle for mickey mouse repairs.
To me, these cars have survived this long because of great engineering.
Good luck,,,,Greg
Ps,,,Jody may be right, but, that isn't what I read.

When it comes down to it, yes it's made to direct airflow, no it won't ruin your engine. Do you really think a fan shroud is going to be a deciding factor in keeping your motor from overheating?
But I do agree with taking the rad back and having it done properly, you paid good money for the job to be done correctly so make them stick to it.

It helps, but not much, it's down there in the single digits. Would it even fit tight? Most of them by now have about a 1" bow in them. I put them on if they're there but I don't worry about it if they're not.
