Fan clutch bolt, etc.

Post by T.Hanson »

The old style fan clutch was loose, wobbly. Replaced with spare.

The parts drawing says the bolt is 6mm. it's 10mm. 28mm length. I used that size but without the shoulder. All threads.

Did I do a fatal bad nasty ? Sorry, still cold. Didn't have one, all I had was full threaded.

Are allen bolts a big deal in the aluminum hub ? Hex bolts seem to have worked for years.

Where do we buy a new (center bolt) fan clutch? $166 is more than the new style hex nut version x 2.

Pulling the radiator is a big sloppy aggravation.

You could replace the water pump with the new type and use the new type fan clutch.

I don't know the length offhand, but it's an 8MM bolt, not 6 or 10. Seems like every one I've seen just had a lockwasher on there but no shoulder bolt or anything. And a plain old hex head bolt, not an allen.

New fan clutches are outrageous, but I think I've still got 2 or 3 I'd be happy to sell. 8)
