L-jet injection issue

Post by spider98664 »

'81 E12 5 speed. US spec.

My relay box on top of the brake booster has signal from the ecm, but no power to fire the injectors when the relay closes. Is there a fuse someplace that is bad?

If I bring power with a jumper to the pin it starts right up.

Also, I think I have 2 bad injectors. Local German specialist cannot get them. Sources?

Thanks!

Would that be the combo relay? Search on the board, these kind of issues have been discussed many times.
There is also useful stuff on the FAQ:

Combo relays are a known problem, they're the double relay.

Injectors? The usual suspects, Autohausaz, Rockauto, Amazon.

Combo relay

I checked the relay carefully and all the solder joints are good. The diodes work properly. There is no voltage (hot) to the relay.

That should not be very hard to track down?
I know some L-jet supply only at start or run (AFM switch) 12V to some parts of the relay, but I never had an L-jet myself.
A multimeter and electric schematics should be all you need.

I jumped power to the output wires that go to the injectors and it started right up.

A replacement relay solved the problem all together.

Thanks for the help.
