Well I completely messed up!
I am replacing the headliner on my 1981 e12 528i and did not write down the order of the metal cross rods that hold the headliner to the roof.
Question: does the straight rod go to the back (closess to the the back window) or does the rod the has a 2" bend at the ends go to the back.
The car has a sunroof, so there is only two rods to hold up the headliner. Looking for all the help I can get.
It should be pretty obvious. Non-sunroof cars use rods that are all the same. Sunroof cars have one that is arched (it goes in the back) and the flatter one in front of it since it has to clear the sunroof cassette.

Did it the way you said and it went together real easy. The years have taken it to toll on the rubber grommets. Had to order and wait for them. Now working on the sunroof opening.
