question about cylinder head fitment. (cooling passages)
I am about to order a cylinder head which is a M30 from a 1986 735i on ebay but the person selling sent me a picture of the bottom. Where the cooling passages are there is two holes per cyclier.... mine has what is the size of a smile on either side for all cylinders. the new head gasket I bought doesn't have a cutout for the smile but i know i got the right one for the car.... by the way i have 1979 528i....... wuld this head on ebay fit...? thanks
That's correct, early ones had a slot, later had holes and are a better more reliable casting. You will need the distributor adapter nut but it will work other than that.
