It actually will fit '80-'81 cars. There's an area that isn't quite perfect around the accelerator pedal, but Mike W. did put a Llama E28 interior into his 1980 528i and seemed pretty satisfied with the results.

There are two different kinds of carpet for E28. Early and late. Floor pans didn't change, but the late carpets have the insulation attached to it. I'm not sure what I'd rather use, but if your insulation is okay, it might just be worth getting an earlier carpet.

The bigger issue is that the colors for E28s and E12s are different, though I think as long as you get ALL of the carpet, you should be okay. The carpets were never a perfect match for the seats/door panels anyway, so you should be able to get away with it.

Good luck.

Close, very close. The carpet was anthracite, but you've got the fitment part nailed. :D

Yep, I said you were close, very close. :D Actually were, I have a different interior in it now, probably sandbeige, lighter, E12 not E28, but similar.

New carpet available?

Post by philipj »

I was hoping to find the post regarding blue carpet availability.. At one point there was a part number available for later cars.. My first question, is this still available and can it be worked into a 77 model year? the second, anyone has the number handy? Thanks for the help.
