Idles but dies when I give it gas

Need a little help here….
My son is 4 hours away and his 1980 E12 has developed an issue. He had a bad alternator and so he changed it out. Now the car runs at idle but as soon as he tries to give it any gas; it dies. They have cleaned all of the ground connections and still no luck.
Any ideas?

Check the plugs. The temp one for the FI. The AFM especially. Anything else around there with a plug. Make sure the connectors going to the combo relay are seated. Check fuel pressure even if it's only to see if the supply hose is harder than the return. Pull the intake boot off, then with the key on, press in on the AFM flap, the fuel pump should turn on, you should hear it run and feel it thru the fuel supply line.

Did you ever find the cause of the issue?

Im dealing with a similar issue, doesnt die but sometimes almost does!
