I cant find my Haynes manual on my 76 530i
My question is what is the gap on the points.and are they set at 0 TDC

.016" is always a good number for points. Technically you should be using dwell angle, but .016 is fine. As far as position you want it on the peak of the cam which may or may not be TDC.

I gave you correct settings from my Haynes manual in response to your original post. I guess you didn't read it?
It's very specific depending on which distributor you have.

I was taught that you buy new points, and rip the flap off the box and stick that between to set the gap.
