Also where are you cracking the lines to test, at body or at the caliper, because rubber lines can get swollen and now allow flow thru them. It's a non issue if you're checking at the caliper and get good flow, but if it's on the body side it could be the problem.

1980 e12 no brake pedal response
Hi everyone,
I recently installed a new master cylinder and now I can't get any pedal response. It's soggy without the car running, but once I start the motor it just goes to the floor. I've used a pressure bleeder. I get good flow to all six front bleeders. The rears flow very sluggishly but when I ...

Thanks for the comments. I apologize for not replying sooner. The thermostat was failed catastrophically. The frame that wraps the thermal mechanism had split and bent back so it couldn't close at all. While I was at it I discovered that the water pump bearing was badly worn, so I dodged a bullet ...

temperature gauge going cold
I drive my '80 e12 to work every day and it's been running very well for several years. Yesterday the temp gauge barely raised off cold. I've pulled the connector and reseated it on the sender but no change. Any advice about the cause for this? I can't find info anywhere about what the resistance of ...

Thanks, Mike.
My reason for asking is that after the incident when it hit the curb and while it's been sitting on my garage floor, there wasn't any sign of a leak. Almost as soon as I put it back in the car the oil started leaking out the bottom. It seems to be around the area where the strut tube ...

oil leak at bottom of strut
This is actually on my E23, but this forum seems to have better tech discussion. My son recently clipped a curb with the right front wheel. I've replaced the bent lower control arm and am reinstalling the strut. Once I had the strut in place and the bolts all loosely installed, I noticed oil seeping ...

To give it try, you don't have to connect them anywhere. Just touch one end to the case of the AFM, the other to the engine block or intake manifold (anywhere that's a good ground). That's how I discovered it by accident. I suspect that the AFM has a marginal ground connection in it's cable, but I ...

Hi Brian,
I know this is just a single point of info and unlikely your problem, but here goes anyway. Couple of years ago my '80 had a rough idle/missing sort of problem and would stumble badly under mild accelleration. I looked at a lot of the things you've been exploring. Somehow I accidentally ...

Any decent wrecking yards in Seattle area?
This isn't exactly an E12 question as I also have an E23. I've called few, but haven't found much support for the older BMW's. Have been looking for a trunk lid for my E12 and located a guy with a parts car in Portland. Now I need a front sway bar for the E23. This forum seems more attuned to ...

Is the E12 get together dead?
This is just a bump since it's been some days since the last post. Anything happening with the Seattle E12 social? I know I'm sort of inviting myself, but it would be fun to meet some E12'ers and get/share some advice.
Thanks,
John
