Cleaning up after Blown HeadGasket
Is it worthwhile to drop the oil pan and clean out the milky oil/water gunge or will running fresh oil thru the engine after the head is reinstalled clean out most of the crap? I suppose you'd have to throw out a new oil filter as well? What about the water pump, now that the head is off,is it worthwhile to pull the pump off and clean it or will running a rad flush product through the system be good enough? I'm going to install new hoses while I'm in there. Anything else I should check on while the head is off? CK

I've always just done an oil change, no wiping out the pan. When the engine gets up to operating temp, it will cook the water out of that chocolate milk and it will get pulled through the crankcase breather.
