Hey Mike... Installing Distributor after Reinstalling Head?
Time to drop the distributor back in. The crank pulley is aligned where it's supposed to be. I did mark where the rotor should go so that when I drop in the the dist the rotor will move to the proper mark on the casing. Only problem is I didn't mark the housing. How can I orient the distributor housing so that it's in the correct place prior to dropping it in? Is there a position where I can align the vacuum housing in relation to something on the block? CK.
At TDC the vacuum box should be more or less pointed at the drivers side of the car. Look at some of the COTM's for reference. That's where the body should be, and the rotor should be pointed at that little notch in the body that is visible with the cap off. That will get you close enough to start it, barely. Then you need to time it so it runs right, then fully time it by the light if you want. That's assuming everything was right when you took it apart, which 30+ years later isn't always the case. Look for the #1 spark plug cable and go from there.

COTM's? What does this stand for? Reference pics?
Thanks for your help.
