Best place to jack up and place jack stands?

Post by EURO M3 CSL »

Hey fellow E12 owners!

I have a question pertaining to where to jack up the car and rest it on jack stands. I plan on redoing all the rear suspension bushings myself so I would like to ask where is the best place to jack up the rear and where to place the jack stands at? thanks for your help!

Jacking points are along the outside rocker panels, marked by small angle brackets you can see, feel, about a foot behind, in front of the tires. Put a piece of soft wood on the platter of a floor jack not to crush the bottom seam.

Jack stands: two obvious corners on the front frame, left has the tow hook up. Rear is common sense placement to allow removing the designated parts.

So in other words, no real designated place to rest it on jackstand seeing how the only way is common sense

That would be my thinking. The four points on the rocker panels for jacking and the arms of a hoist.

Jack stands on solid frame members; not floors, axles, gas tank etc.
