e28 air dam fitment

Post by Swagg »

ok so im wondering how hard its going to be to fit one of these onto my e12. I have N/A spec diving board bumpers and it comes off of an DB bumpered e28 as well. Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with it or not. How does the width line up? (I understand the curvature (sp?) will be a touch different.

Somebody on a local board is trying to sell it to me and im not sure I want to go ahead and buy it yet until I get a little bit of feedback first.

Also note, I am willing to drill and cut a bit here and there as long as it is subtle

here are some pics of it:

If you are looking at a front valance, 12's and 28's are close enough to fit. BMP Design used to sell an E28 kit that Zane Coker (see COM for photos) used.

Having done it, be careful purchasing fiberglass in need of repair. Pretty easy to spend hours patching cracks, sanding off old paint, filling chips and having one painted at a shop is a couple hundred bucks.

Installing under the USA bumper will require removing the side bellows to cut the undersides to fit. Depending upon rust, use patience and care not to twist off the mounting bolts.

I've heard it can be made to work, but I'm not sure I've seen it. Maybe check the car of the months and there may be one there.

On pics, they need to be on a hosting site like Flickr or any of a bunch, your link to a forum with a password doesn't work, it needs to be a direct link. You've got the right idea with clicking Img, but the link doesn't work.

Find the appropriate E28 front valance (early or late) to make whatever airdam you're talking about fit. I can't see your photos. The E28 valances bolt right up to the E12.

There are a couple CARS of the MONTH that have E28 valances fitted like this one from January, 2002.

He's running a late E28 front valance and a Zender airdam. Also, an E28 front bumper. Personally, I think the car looks confused. I happen to like the different E12 airdam options.
