Brake pads

Post by T.Hanson »

What very good brake pads are we using for normal street use ? I do not like black soot on my wheels.

Hi Tom
I've heard ceramic brakes allow less dust. But, I've also heard they may not be best for the street. Of course I didn't write it down, so, I forgot just why!

Greg's got the reputations right. I've got ceramics on the wife's E39 with style 5 wheels, AKA everyones favorite until the first time they have to clean them, and I put ceramics on 3 years ago. Now E39s are obviously different cars, but I've had no problems with them, they are low dusting and what dust there is, is lighter in color. I'm happy with them. They probably aren't the best performance choice, but we've definitely been thru the mountains with them, say 9,000' or better. And the way down of course. :D
