What is the minimum distance the lug bolt must thread into the wheel (rotor).

Alpina wheels are thicker, causing stock lug bolts not to thread in as far.

I.e., if one inserts a lug bolt in the wheel, what is the minimum thread length sticking out the back of the wheel (threaded into the hub.) ?

Are there longer lug bolts than stock ?

You may want to contact Ryan for some studs. I've bought them for my E30's and will most likely do the E12's very pleased with the service and quality. The stock E30 bolt is designed to enter the hub 12mm but there are options up to 15mm according to this link I red loctite them;

Yes there are longer lug bolts, they generally come in 5MM steps, ie stock are 25, then there are 30, 35, 40, etc. Length in inches or MM I don't know, but figure about 6 threads which is stock. I hunted for a couple of years to find some in a yard before I finally did for some old 14X7 BBS wheels I used to have that needed just a little bit more.

7 threads is what I have always to be the recommended bolt penetration for lug bolts.
I am sure that 6 is most likely within the safe margin but 5 is not.
