this morning I had look around at the temperature sensors I had lying around and they all are 2 pin sensors.....i tried using the one that came off the car....a 79 e12 based e24 running ljet....stuck it in.....ran a wire to earth it but still nothing.....i was suprised it didn't work as it was the one originally on the car before the motronic conversion......

anyways I'll keep fiddling about with it and see what happens

Hi,
My car has a 1 pin sensor. But it is a '76. I don't know if BMW has changed them to 2-pin sensors at a point. Anyway, the problem probably is the lack of a ground signal. Try to connect the other pin to a ground ans see what happens.

BGRIFF; if you haven't yet, you should, also check out the 'bigcoupe.com' website, too.
Don't forget that your car is still an E24. The guys here can help a whole lot & some do have an E24 too, & a bimmer is a bimmer, but keep that in mind.
I rely on both forums , cause I also have an '82 Euro with an E12 chassis.

Hey....sorry for my ignorance but what is ''BGRIFF''.....is it an abbrev. for something???? :?

i do have a look there from time to time but I find this forum to be far better at the technical stuff.......

big coupe seems to have very little on e12 based e24......just the later e24
