Re torquing replaced cylinder head after X miles?

Post by canada karl »

Once a replaced cylinder head has been torqued down does it need to checked and re torqued after say 500 miles or is it just good to go after the initial torquing?

Keep in mind I'm not Mike W.

Having replaced two heads, new gaskets, etc., following the torquing procedures, I've not had problems with leaks or heat in the three years of miles since. Perhaps when, if I adjust valves, but so far no smoke or noises from them.

I've never done it on M30s nor have I had any HG problems on ones I've replaced. Won't hurt, but unnecessary.
