Instrument cluster...how to hook up the retaining cable?

what's the trick to reinstall the retaining cable .....Can't get in from underneath?....can't set it into the slot with the cluster installed?

IIRC you can lay the cable with the nut loosened in the slot or track as you install the cluster into the dash, then tighten the nut from below. the nut will slop down into position as the cluster goes home.

I tie a two foot long string to the end of it to guide it in there.
