Anybody using Koni strut inserts?

Post by bizz »

Hi all,
I'm planning on building up a shortened set of front struts for my E12. (probably using Ground Control parts)

I would like to run a shorter insert to accomplish this. Currently i'm tossing up between 8610 koni race, or just going with Koni Sports.
Bilstein is out as I can't find a suitably spec'd strut.

I've done some research and it looks like E30 325ix shocks are the perfect size ~326mm long, with the same 43.5mm OD.

Let me know if you have any experience with Koni products, or if you have other suggestions for a shorter insert to do the job.

Cheers

I bit the bullet & ordered some Koni Sport inserts @ $160 per corner.
I will let everyone know how I go with my setup :)

I got the whole set up. Adjustable coil overs on all four corners plus the camber plates up front. I just pulled the car out of storage, from the winter, and am looking forward to playing with adjustments. But first it sounds like I either have a front wheel bearing going out or a sticky caliper! Hope to get the front end off the ground tomorrow afternoon.
