Sorry for your issue! Has it become obvious that the sprocket is not the correct one?
Did you line it up against the old one?

As for the missing bolt I'm going to have to drain the oil and go in though the bottom to try and find it. I've checked everywhere I can see and probe with a magnet so now I got to look at the possibility of it being deeper in the engine.

Could the sprocket bolt holes be in a rectangular situation?
If so, would Matthew have to rotate it for them to line up?
Also, could Matthew get lucky & the bolt be in the oil pan?
I guess there's a lot in the way, huh?
Or, if he removes the lower timing chain cover......?

I'm not 100% about what I'll need to do with the timing sprocket, I'll keep mucking with it once I get the missing bolt back and go from there though.
Rule of thumb for others to not make my mistake: put a rag over any openings things can fall into so they don't fall in if you accidently drop something!

Oil drained but then a small complication. So because I can't lift the engine I couldn't remove the oil pan since it's the entire bottom of the engine. However, with the oil removed I was able to go fishing through the timing section much easier since I could now hear what I was feeling around, and got the bolt out.
I'm still messing about trying to get the sprocket back on (I think the problem is trying to keep it even and flush with the camshaft while I attach it), but now with a rag stuffed in there to keep stray bolts from falling back inside.

Ps,,Is it possible to tighten the sprocket just enough for the bolts to hold it in place so you can line it up by
tapping it in place?

I can get it to sit flush against the face of the cam shaft just fine and can even make sure the dowel and the holes line up. The issue seems to be that once you get one bolt started the sprocket wants to bend out of place to allow that bolt to go in, throwing everything else out of alignment. I'm going to keep playing with it. Maybe try a clamp to help hold it in place.GripGreg wrote:YAY! Good progress!![]()
