Can someone take a few closeup pics of what the outer chrome under the window looks like and what it latches on to on the front doors?

sorry, i was just shutting down for the day when i saw your post - i took a photo of what you circled without noticing that you asked for the outside chrome. Just in case, here is the photo:

so, just to be clear - you mean #1 or #5, correct?

Exactly what I was asking for. Crap, I'm missing that inside piece of chrome facing the inside. What part # is that??

Remove the inside door panel, carefully, removing the screws, then using your fingers to pop the nylon pegs around the outside.

The wood trim piece comes off by straightening the inside little metal straps. Once free, use a heat gun, gently, sneak up on the old cracked and broken varnish using a paint scraper.

Dull, not a real sharp blade. Heat, go slow, stay away from the wood to let it pop the varnish before it toasts the wood with a black spot.

Much faster, better than sanding. Once clean use a nice oil rub on the piece.

The chrome strip with the shallow cutout around the lock pin is held in place with screws (you can see one just in front of the lock pin) and is #8 in the diagram.
