Intermittent cutting out on acceleration

Its been a while since I posted here....
I've been enjoying my e12 as a daily driver for some time now!

My car runs and drives great.

Lately however, and only Sometimes, when I accelerate, the engine cuts out .. it kinda hiccups ...
cuts out for a second - turns over - cuts out again - i give it gas - and then its like nothing happened at all - everything is fine, car is running smooth and could be fine for the rest of the day.

It does not even happen on every trip.

I'm thinking its my combo relay or something in my 528i ignition system.

Has anybody experienced anything like this? Any ideas? Thanks for reading

Im not sure, but I suspect that the connection from the distributor (528i style) was a bit oily... I cleaned it up and havent had the issue since, but since problem was intermittent, Im not sure.
