Coolant refill

I drained the coolant from the block via the plug beneath the exhaust manifold as well as the radiator when I replaced the thermostat housing, water pump and all hoses. Does coolant reach the block when refilling through the expansion tank or should the block be primed with coolant during assembly? Thanks!

Coolant does fill into the block, no need to do anything special besides the normal bleeding process.
