I found a Sunroof Deflector at teh salvage yard today. Original BMW, purple tinted, $3.80! I installed it on my car, and now the sunroof won't close. The front mounts are less than 1mm thick, but that's too close for the sunroof to close and then go into pop-up mode.
Any tips on adjustment or resetting it so I can use this cool deflector? It really makes a difference with the roof open. I would, however, also like the option of closing the roof.

I've had and installed a couple and never had any problems. Are you sure you got it in the right place? The mounting brackets that is? They're pretty thin, like .015" or so? They fit in the pocket like area toward the front of the sides. And the sunroof is slightly tapered in shape so it will retract smoothly. Are they the right brackets? Bent?
BTW, the purple tint is what they fade to, not what they start as.

I removed and re-flattened the brackets. After a couple of tries, it opens and closes fine now.
I like the purple tint much better than the dark smoke color of most others I've seen. It's faded incredibly uniformly! I thought that was the original color. It must be a really old deflector. Luckily it's clear and not all scratched up.
