Sunroof Panel Interchange

I just found the first water on the front seat yesterday... booo. Has anyone used an e28 sunroof panel in your later model 528i? Mine has a rust hole in it and the front bracket only has rusty flakes to attach to anymore. I can find lots of e28's but few e12's on the East Coast. And it rains here a lot.

The only one that would actually work would an E28 made before 12/82. They changed the way the roof mounts for 12/82 cars. My first 533i was a 12/82 production car and my repair manual had me follow the procedure for removing the early panels. I broke mine.

There's an '82 528e in a yard here if you can't find anything where you're at. It's Alpinweiβ.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I was thinking it might be all e28 so you have saved me some trouble. Thanks for the offer of the part. If I can't find one locally, I will be looking here. Thanks to all first fivers for helping keep these great cars around for a while!
