I am getting ready to install my new motor and transmission.
While I have never installed a motor before, I have now removed two. Based on that experience, I would rather not try to angle it in from the top, as I have such a nicely repainted car and engine compartment.
So, I plan to lift the front of the car and go from underneath.
I have been trying to find some information on doing it this way, but I have not found much.
So far, my plan is to make a simple dolly for the sub-frame, motor, transmission assembly.
Use my engine hoist to lift the front of the car, without sub-frame up high enough to slide the engine assembly in. Hold it in position with jackstands (I think), remove the engine hoist.
Slide the engine assembly in position under the car.
Lower the car over the engine, onto jack stands again.
Use the engine hoist to lift the motor up into the engine bay and bolt the sub-frame on and transmission cross member.
Is that about right?

Sounds like it will work if you can lift the car high enough.
I think it's an E3, but this is how the factory installed everything.
