Finally reading Peter's L jet treatise after ten years.
Is there a step by step order of things to do to accomplish a tune up ?
Thus : Proper octane fuel in the tank. Clean plugs, wires, harness, injectors clean. Valves adjusted. Key on, open AFM door, hear fuel pump working or turn the key, engine starts. Observe all cold start related items working properly until up to normal operating temperature.
If not, trouble shoot those items.
Then (?)...Adjust timing, throttle body idle screw, AFM idle screw, set throttle body switches,...
Or do we just keep going around in circles adjusting, then adjusting the next thing to adjust to what we just adjusted.
Tune up sequence
Lets see, some of that is more repair than maintenance, setting the throttle switches is rarely if ever needed. I'd go valve adjustment, plugs, set idle, set timing and you could go back and forth a little on the last two, and that's about it. Spark plug cables, dist cap and rotor if needed, but unless they're really bad they don't really affect the other stuff.
