Hey there, my 530i is having some problems firing let alone starting. It may fire once or twice but when I apply a bit of gas to it while trying to start it kills it. So not sure if this is a fuel or electrical problem.
About a month ago I replaced the spark plugs with platinums but after reading about them on this forum I changed back to the old ones (not sure what they are). So not sure if putting these platinums in has caused this starting problem.
My dad thought that there is water in the gas tank after many crazy rain storms so I put in two bottles of gas line antifreeze but still not working.
If you guys have any idea what is going on please help me out.
Thanks

I can't say why your car is having this problem, but I can say something about the platinum plugs. The problem with these and old cars is that they tend to foul because the fuel injection and ignition are not as efficient and tightly controlled as newer cars with digital electronics. But more than that, they will not do well in any car that burns a little (or a lot) of oil. I can't think of any way they would cause trouble with anything else - when you replace them, you have removed the trouble with them.
