Does the metal chrome trim at the bottom of the front windshield need to be installed inside the rubber gasket BEFORE the windshield and gasket are put in or can it be installed afterward?
I just had the windshield replaced and the chrome piece is not all the way in at the bottom edge of the lower chrome piece.
Thanks for the advice.

Windshield Trim Installation

I've not replaced a windscreen. Taking a flying guess, the glass is surrounded by a large black rubber frame/gasket that fits it in the body. I believe the chrome clips in around the outside of that, and the center (silver) strip pushes into the black rubber frame.
If you had the windshield installed professionally, take it back and have them finish their work. If the professional removing the old glass didn't pay attention to how it came apart, it's up to them to fly to Germany and find out how it goes back together. WITHout cracking or leaking.

I'm 90% sure the glass is installed with the (plastic)chrome surround and the metal clips in place before the process of slipping the inner seal in place from inside the car. I will double check the factory manual.

I usually install the aluminum at the bottom before I put the windshield in. I always install the plastic trim after. Get it at least somewhat warm in the sun and use cream type waterless hand cleaner as a lube. It's a little work, but not bad.
