76' 530i m30 vacuum

Post by flyingdogjohn »

hey guys,

been a troll on the site for a while but finally made an account, short introduction of myself, ive worked at 3 BMW dealers as a technician, am a BMW level 3 tech and ASE certified. by no means will i tell you im the end all be all of automotive knowledge but id like to think i am sometimes lol.

to make a long story short i work at a european indy in michigan and we have a 4/76 e12 that the PO did an engine swap on and died before getting it running, so its a CF under the hood if you know what im saying, and im mostly wondering if anyone has either a vacuum diagram thats accurate or could just simply take some pictures under the hood so i can kind of get a baseline of what im supposed to be looking at. my experience lies almost entirely of e36 and up so the m20s and m30s arrent really my forte.

i have looked up the vacuum diagrams that are posted here but they dont seem to be correct for this car,any questions just let me know, if need be i can post pictures of it.

thanks for any feedback

Hi,

I once found use in the diagrams on bmwfans.info:

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E12/S ... se/engine/

(scroll to the bottom of the page)
If you car is different, try to see if any of the e12 models listed there matches.

Here is how I remember it. Near to Near and Far to Far. The port on the distributor closest to the throttle body corresponds with the nearest port on the throttle body and the farthest away goes to the farthest away port on the throttle body. Works. Simple, huh?
