The car with the v8 was a car of the month back in 2008. Here is a link to that: http://www.firstfives.org/carmonth/aug2008.html

I think it would be easier to fit a BMW engine in as well. If you are looking for a newer engine, you should be able to fit a newer m50 or m42 without too much of a ...

Well, I tried but couldn't find much on the number you listed. I would just assume that it's from a 733i if that's what you were told. It seems to be a m30b32 designation from my Googling. The early 3.2 745i probably just used the same block as the non-turbocharged version, thus giving it the same ...

When I got my '77 it didn't have rear shoulder belts. I took some from an '81 528i parts car and put them in w/o any problems. The 528i release buttons on the latches were on top instead of on the side like the earlier cars though (I like the later design better). So, don't forget to pull the fronts ...

+1 for what T Hanson said.

Also, the next two things I would check are:

1) vacuum leaks (and the vacuum advance on the distributor)

2) fuel filter

If both of those are fine, I would check the injection system. There could always be a clogged injector or a bad O2 sensor.

BBS RS help

I'm building a set of BBS RS rims with my tax return in a few weeks. The set I have consists of the standard 2 RS005s (16x7 ET11) and 2 RS006s (16x8 ET 24).

I'm going to take the two RS005s and widen the inner barrels as much as I can (they are cracked and need to be replaced anyway) and put them ...

i'm pretty sure all m10, m20, m30, and s14 starters are all interchangable. The part number on the later starters are different (i.e. 1988 m3 starter), but they work and are smaller and more powerful than the stock early m10/m20/m30 starters. You should be fine.

M20 starters are not ...

I actually had the opposite problem recently. I had a pair of strut inserts that I bought for my old '76 530i. I tried to put them in the housings for my current '77 530i and they were too tall. They did fit perfectly into my e21 323i strut housings though :? .

An easy fix is to just take a few ...

They don't list it on their website, but try Walloth and Nesch. They have a lot of the hard to find parts for older BMWs. http://www.wallothnesch.com

*tink* sound on take-off

Hey everyone,

I've noticed recently when I take-off from a stop in my '77 530i, I hear a soft, rubbery *tink* sound coming from the front end. Whenever it happens, I can also feel it very well through the steering wheel. So, I'm thinking it's something steering-related. When I looked underneath the ...

I think a Haynes manual, realoem, and this forum should give you all of the tools you need to tackle any problems you run into. I've used the Haynes manual for years. It's a good reference.

You would probably need new motor mount brackets. I know that when e21 guys do m30 swaps, they need to make new mounts. You could just use euro 520i ones. You'll also need to work out a driveshaft solution. You could try an e21 driveshaft, but it may not fit without modification. Also, only the e21 ...
